Russia is the largest country and counts over a thousand years of history. Yet, it is surrounded by myths, misunderstanding, and prejudice, some of which are deliberately fabricated, and some evolving out of shallow knowledge of Russian life and culture. This Substack does what its very name implies: making Russia simpler to understand, revealing the bells and whistles of the Russian mindset, and demonstrating down-to-earth Russian life.
Russia Simplified highlights details of Russian lifestyle, traditions, and insights which you have no chance of learning or experiencing unless you spend a considerable amount of time living in Russia, like a regular Russian. This Substack is a window through which you can glance at ordinary Russian life to see for what it is, not what the media choose to feed you or what many bloggers and vloggers show you through their limited and predisposed perceptions.
“Notes” section of Russia Simplified unveils snippets of Russian lifestyle, specifics of mindset, material ambience, traditions and customs in small and larger things that comprise Russian culture as a whole. The newsletter covers topics that require longer writing to explain what Russian culture and everyday life is and what it’s not more thoroughly and in greater detail.
Being acquainted with Russia will help in grasping the differences and similarities between Russia and your country, bring up your cultural awareness, and ultimately facilitate building bridges for a better dialogue between people of the world.
If you’re interested in a peculiar aspect of Russian culture or lifestyle, not yet covered in previous publications, please drop a note to the author or leave a comment; it will be considered as a prospective topic for future short notes or a newsletter.
